Mistints.

imageThe Wife and I have been doing a lot of painting and minor altering of our house and garage over the last few months. Because of this we have also spent a lot of time hanging around our local home improvement stories, and being the people that we are constantly looking for the best deal.

One of the best deals I have seen in a while involves purchasing mistinted paint. You would think with the computers and equipment that can match any color they could massively cutback on the amount of mistinted paint, but they actually have their own shelves at my local Lowes and Home Depot. I ended up buying the pictured paint for $5 which would have normally cost around $28 for the gallon of paint.

There is an admittedly small selection of available paints that is constantly changing, with usually the size being limited to a gallon. So if you have a smaller project that only needs a gallon or less of paint maybe this deal will work for you. One other highlight of purchasing from a small quantity is it can help simplify which color you and the spouse pick for something… Do we want this $28 yellow? $28 green? Or this $5 blue?

Would you ever use a mistint paint? Is it worth $23 to have a color be different that what you would have picked or like me would you enjoy not needing to pick between 1000′s?
