Over the last few weeks of going to various events that have admission such as movies, state parks, even the science museum I have stumbled a crossed something that bothers even more that I think about it. The fact that the younger the child the less expensive admission is for these activities.
No, I am really not trying to hate on people with kids. It’s rather the fact that if I need to pay $10-$15 dollars to do something for The Wife then another sum for myself, I would actually like to see what is going on and be able to hear what is going on. Example? Yes please.
The Minnesota Science Museum charges adults (anyone who isn’t 12 or less or 60+) $3 less than children. Most of the activities and exhibits are setup for children, and are bombarded with them constantly with no real opportunities to check them out as an adult that is paying more money. Children between 4-12 get a discount on Omni theater tickets… and I bet no one has ever said “I wish there was a bunch more kids at this showing” because there aren’t really any benefits to other Museum goers to have more children swarming around.
Why do we have discounted tickets for children like its an asset to have poorly behaved children attempt to ruin these events? I don’t know. At least when they pay less for a buffet or for a kids meal they are actually getting less, similar to senior meals. But getting a discount to have a heard of children attempt to ruin my full price experience? No thanks.
