A month or two ago, I commented on a missing fire extinguisher from its cabinet near my office. I was a little concerned, but thought it was probably being maintained or something else. After a weekend, I returned to work to find a whole in the wall where the box once was and the wall paper cut back… over the next few days they filled in the hole with little to no evidence that they existed throughout the building.

There is a cost to maintaining fire extinguishers, but I didn’t think it was so expensive that a better alternative would be to remove them all together. I don’t know whether the fire codes have changed since they put them in, or they were a duplicate of in ceiling sprinklers, but there never seems to be a shortage of changes they keep making around the office.
