Before the advent of the cellular phone, there was virtually no reason not to wear a wrist watch. Other than adding a sense of style if wearing one more tailored as jewelry than the outdoorsy look, it was virtually the only way to carry time with you without the more dated pocket watch. A lot has changed since the wrist watch heyday and I actually think it’s very unfashionable to wear one when everyone knows you have a cellphone either strapped to your side or hidden in one of your pockets.
Benefits:
- Long battery life.
- Look Cool?
Drawbacks:
- Duplicate information for most people with cell phones.
- Quite expensive to have one other than a cheap Hello Kitty watch.
- Many people can’t even recognize an expensive watch if you do own one.
Either way I cannot think of a reason that I either need to buy another watch or wear one with the exception of going camping (which you really don’t need to know the time) or going to another country that you wouldn’t be carrying a phone on your person.
Do you still wear a watch or know someone that does? Is it still functional/practical/stylish to do so or are wrist watches going the way of new papers and print books?
