I can’t say enough about how much money one can save while shopping online instead of buying things at retail stores. The tradeoff is usually a much lower price, but it requires that you wait for whatever your item is. I am fine with waiting for my item as long as it is a definite amount of time rather than 2-7 days when laid out regular and from this springs my gripe of the week.
If you operate an online retail store, there are a few things you can do to make the experience for everyone:
- Tell people where your warehouses actually exist. As a consumer, it does matter to me whether you are shipping from the next town over or the other end of the country.
- Provide me with some form of typical processing time. I don’t like waiting 3 business days for my item to get put into the mail only to wait another 7 business days. Making my item take 3 weeks to get to me with no notice.
- Tell me how you ship. If you can provide with a map (like pictured), it doesn’t need to be 100% right, but as a consumer it’s nice to have a ballpark expectation.
Have you ordered a package and thought to received it, way after a you thought is reasonable amount of time due to unclear preparation/shipping details? Does how long an item is going to take to get to you greatly effect how much you will pay for something?
