A few days ago while cruising the internet I stumble upon somebody saying that there isn’t really any ham in Subway’s Cold Cut Combo which claims to have ham, salami and bologna. I was slightly suspicious of so I decided to do some looking into the matter expecting to find something similar to pink slime or something else added as an ingredient.
After going to the Subway homepage they make it pretty clear that their CCC sandwich “is stacked with turkey-based meats”. I know you can pretty much make sausage from any type of meat that you want and call it whatever you want within some minimum guidelines. On the other hand, I didn’t know “ham” which I have always known to contain pork can be also made from turkey. If you do enough digging you can find that it’s pretty much a marketing term letting you know they can make any meat into a ham… or rather a pressed ham shape after they grind it up and shape it.
So rather than getting 3 different types of meat on a sub sandwich for $5 you actually get turkey processed in 3 different ways dyed with 3 different colors. Healthy? Maybe, but questionable marketing at best.
