Escape the Heat.

ThermometerLiving in Minnesota there always seems to be a good reason to be complaining about the climate. In the winter time its too cold or too warm (so we don’t have snow) or in the summer it’s mostly too hot or simply the humidity.

Being the good Minnesotan that I am, I try to enjoy variations in temperature by dealing with them in anyway necessary, and make sure that the “complainers” really know how bad the weather can get. Here are my helpful hints for dealing with an overly warm week during the summer.

Escaping the Heat

If you only have a window air conditioner that seems to not be able to keep up with the heat, or you don’t want to pay for the electricity, simply get in your car and go to a mall or local big box store to cool off. My car ride is even better with my car spitting out 40 degrees of enjoyment for most of the trip.

Making the Heat Hot

To capitalize on the heat and use it to your advantage if you are tasked with going to some sort of group event that will be filled with people stating “It’s too hot!” Make sure to follow some of these steps so you can enjoy others misery instead of being part of it:

  • Wear SPF 30 Sunscreen or more. You are probably going to get burnt, but it won’t be as bad.
  • Drink water before hand. You’ll feel cooler and can combat a hangover before it starts.

If this is another day of vacation for you around the 4th of July, I hope you are having fun. If you are back to the daily grind use some of these tips or share your own for the upcoming weekend.
