Webpages Won’t Load.

For the last week or two The Wife has been complaining that “Your Chromebook, won’t load Facebook!” and a few days ago after closer inspection I saw first hand how it couldn’t/wouldn’t load Facebook nor Yahoo. The most boggling part of this problem was that it would load any other page I wanted it to except for these two. As most computer problems I turned to Google to find my answer which added to further confusion with answers supporting the idea that my Chromebook was indeed at fault due to some sort of problem with the Chromium OS. Yet, every solution that worked for everyone else failed… even restoring the little guy to default. Back to the drawing board.

After doing a little over a half an hour of searching and clicking I stumbled upon someone who was having a very similar problem to me, but failed to use standard internet search terms so it took me a while to find it. My problem turned out to be that I had multiple computers connected to the same website at the same time and my router somehow decided that the Chromebook was up to no good and needed to be blocked from those sites, after messing with some settings everything magically returned to normal. I don’t know if this is a Linksys only problem, but from the low count of people having similar problems I am probably on the cutting edge of technology again!

    • Turns out a Chromebook can only partially support WPA2 Mixed Mode. You need to login to your router and set it to AES only (didn’t work for me) or you need to drop it back to WPA/Tkip. After completing that I would clear out your cache, forget your wireless connection and restart your chromebook… then it should work. If that still doesn’t work I would contact the google ninjas who will tell you to do the same thing!
