LANDS’END.

imageEvery few months a “Lands’end” day occurs at my household. This event usually consists of a large box or two of clothing showing up containing various clothing articles for The Wife and I, in an attempt (at least for myself) to remain the best dress person in my workplace.

I have complained about Lands’end before for mailing me a Men’s, Women’s, and Child catalog to my house. Maybe they don’t get the point, but the reason why I seem to like them so well:

  • They sell a limit selection of their clothing out of Sears, but have no problem accepting returns from online purchases.
  • All of their clothing articles are made to fit well whether it’s a tailor/traditional fit, or sizes increasing by half size increments for width and height.
  • They almost always have some sort of discount available for online shopping (they rarely have sales in store), in addition to adding in free shipping.

Maybe I have fallen into their trap, but I find it is much easier to find a deal online and have it shipped to my home with free (local) returns rather than hunting through a Macy’s or some-where’s sales racks looking for a magical shirt or pair that is actually on sale, not a defect, and my size. It’s not as easy for women, but their sizing seems to be very consistent and exactly what you expect.

Have you ever owned any Lands’end clothing? Would you order clothing from online and expect it to fit? Or do you need to see something and hold it in your hands and try it on before it has a chance to be purchased?
