Chicken Mcbites

The first I had heard about Chicken Mcbites was from my little brother who described them as little crispy pieces of breading (implying they were terrible). This being said in front of The Wife pretty much guaranteed them to be part of my near future.

Normally, I don’t think to highly of food from Mcdonald’s and view them as more of a “I need something to eat…… and cheap” so their newer-ish lines of grilled chicken sandwiches and other things that are supposed to appear healthy don’t fit into what I am willing to spend at Micky D’s even if they were healthy. I rank them in line with the many other restaurants that have a dollar menu, and really can’t try to sell me anything else unless The Wife is with. After reading a few stories about how McNuggets will cause you to McDie, I was fairly intrigued to find out what the Mcbites actually consisted of. After cracking open the inconveniently shaped box (require your hands to touch the sides for every piece) with sauce holders that are better suited for a commercial than real life consumption I was impressed to see how small some of the bites actually were. I would say roughly half of them were smaller than a penny with some being slightly larger than a quarter. The larger pieces you could actually tell that there was real chicken on the inside which I was slightly taken back comparing them to the more popular staple nuggets. The smaller pieces seemed to be more of breading on breading which turned out to be crunchy bread pieces that you could dip in the sauce of your choice.  Even worse, if you buy the largest “Shareable” size you only get two sauces, even though it really needs at least 4 due to the massive amount of surface area for the tiny bites.

They didn’t really taste bad, and are more of a mode to put one of the sauces into your mouth. If you prefer the crust of the pizza to the cheezey sauce and meat side you might actually like them a lot. Would I buy them again? Probably not considering they aren’t very filling and are approaching the monetary threshold for spending at McDonald’s.

Have you had Mcbites or sound like something you would be interested in? Do you find it hard to purchase one of the items that is trying to be portrayed as healthy when it’s made in the same fast food restaurant that turns out hot greasy cheap things?
