In the last few weeks, The Wife beat me to the mail and found the SPPS Community Education classes list before I could cleanse it from the mail she sees. Being the great spouse she is, she is always looking to apply a little extra pressure to my already constrained schedule and Community Education classes seem to fit the bill quite well. After a little bit of back and forth, I agreed to go to a class that seems like it should hold my interest and should be worth the $50 for a 1 day a week class for the next several weeks. It should be very interesting because The Wife is taking the class with me, and has never had the opportunity to see how great of learner I am in action.
I only have a few worries for the class that I signed up for which pretty much cover why I have always been hesitant to sign up for Community Education Classes:
- I could possibly know more than I could learn in a class….. and sit there hoping to learn something for weeks on end and never do.
- Have a kid half my age, that could pick up the concepts better than me.
- The Wife forcing me to either take a trip or do something with the “education”.
- Probably the worst on the list, I could end up being in a picture advertising Community Education.
Have you ever signed up for some sort of Community Education like an Adult Enrichment Program? Or enlisted the children in some sort of class to get them out of your hair? Are there any other ways to actually learn a language, woodworking, or some other activity hands on without the class consisting mainly of woman over the age of 59?
