PETA VS Mario.

PETA (People against Rational Thought for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has really gone and done it this time. Not only do they have a problem with people eating meat and wearing fur coats, love public nudity, and release farm raised animals into the wild, they are now trying to kill childhood heroes. They have put out a press release (that is some how news) that Mario’s Tanooki suit is actually modeled after a raccoon dog in Japan that sounds the same but is spelled different. Then proceed to make up a bunch of lies about how they are killed vary barbarically for their hides so people can find them when hitting boxes, proceed to put them on then gain the ability of flight….. well the first part is true.

I think PETA has went way off track when they try to discourage characters from wearing various clothing i.e. Batman shouldn’t be dress similar to a bat because the Joker could be sending messages that killing bats is ok. I’ve always thought that the “raccoon” suit as we always called it was a neat thing and made me enjoy the game better and didn’t related it to real animals or anything ridiculous like that.

Do you think that PETA is off base with their press releases that the media seems to care about that continually press issues that very few people seem to care about or are far fetched? Or when they slander Mario should they be able to be sued?

Mario’s “Froggie” suit is still safe for the moment.
